MR Alex C. Otti served as the Chief Executive Officer and Group Managing Director of Diamond Bank Plc from 2011 – 2014. He served as the Executive Director of South Directorate of FBN Holdings Plc. Earlier, he served as Deputy General Manager for Energy Group of FBN Holdings Plc since April 2004. In 2001, Mr. Otti served as an Assistant General Manager of FBN Holdings Plc for Energy Group. He started his banking career with Nigeria International Bank Limited, a subsidiary of Citibank where he served in the Operations department.
He served at Nigerian Intercontinental Merchant Bank. At Intercontinental, he was at various times in the Treasury and Financial Services department and Corporate Banking. In 1996, Mr. Otti moved to United Bank for Africa Plc, where he was responsible for Corporate Banking Sector in Port Harcourt. Mr. Otti has been an Executive Director at Diamond Bank Plc since 2011.
He has gone through the Executive Development Programme of the Columbia Business School, New York and also trained in the prestigious Stanford Business School. At the University of Port Harcourt, he was the best graduating student in the department of Economics and won the subject prize. He was also the best graduating student in the Faculty of Social Sciences and won the Dean’s Prize, as well as the overall best graduating student for the year and the valedictorian. Mr. Otti graduated from University of Port Harcourt with a first class honors in Economics. He received an MBA from University of Lagos.
Maryam Bashir started her banking career in 1985 with the International Merchant Bank (IMB.) In 1992, she was a core member of the leadership team of the investment company that developed the strategy and consummated the acquisition of United Bank for Africa (UBA), the 3rd largest bank in Nigeria at the time. Post-acquisition, Ms. Bashir served in various management positions in UBA before becoming an Executive Director at the Bank.
She was a Director of UBA Capital and Trust Limited, a fully-owned subsidiary of UBA Plc. In 2004 Ms. Bashir founded Creditcorp Limited, a consulting and advisory services firm based in Lagos rendering services to Financial Institutions and Multinationals, and Real Estate Portfolio Management. She was a member of Federal Government Steering Committee on Solid Minerals (2003 – 2006) member of Special Taskforce on Corporate Governance and Controls in NNPC (2012), and a Trustee Member, NESG Endowment Fund. Ms. Bashir serves on the boards of other companies, including Dangote Sugar Refinery Limited and Cardinal Stone Partners Limited, and Fiduciary Capital Limited. She is a founding member of Women in Management and Business (WIMBIZ).
Maryam Bashir holds Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) Degree in Business Administration from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and MBA in Finance from the University of Jos
Samuel holds an Executive Masters degree in Business Administration from the prestigious International School of Management (IESE), University of Navarra Barcelona having initially held a Bachelors degree in Engineering with a second-class upper division in Civil Engineering from the University of Benin. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Credit Administration (FICA), an Associate member of the Nigerian Institute of Management (AMNIM), A Corporate member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (MNSE), Registered member of the Council for regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), and Honorary Senior member of Chartered Institute of Bankers. He has attended various local and international courses including management/leadership programs at IESE (Spain), INSEAD (France), Wharton (USA) and Columbia (USA).
He has significant experience in various sectors of the economy, including Banking, Business consulting, Construction and Engineering. These experiences were acquired in very strong institutions that include Arthur Andersen & Company (now KPMG professionals), United Bank for Africa Plc, NNB International Bank, First Bank Nigeria Plc and other financial institutions, both as staff or/and as consultant.
Otu Hughes is a Partner at Iroko Capital and Head of the Investment Banking and Financial Advisory Business. Prior to Iroko, he was Chief Operating Officer of Oceanic Capital Company Limited and Head of the Investment Banking Group where he was responsible for the Company’s start-up, day-to-day management, and strategic growth efforts.
Mr Hughes was also active in transaction origination, structuring and execution. Mr. Hughes joined Oceanic Capital from KeyBanc Capital Markets Investment Banking Group in the US where he focused on providing financial advisory services to companies in the healthcare and consumer retail industries. Prior to KeyBanc, he founded Hughes, LLC to provide financial advisory services to small and mid-cap companies.
Mr. Hughes worked for Deutsche Bank Alex Brown (BT Wolfensohn) in New York in the Mergers & Acquisitions Group and started his banking career with Lehman Brothers’ Natural Resources and Emerging Markets groups.
Mr. Hughes holds a B.Sc. in Mathematics from Howard University (Honors Program) and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
